Global Education

This website from AusAid (the Australian government’s aid department), includes a large number of free lesson plans, quiz materials and background information. Although designed for teaching in Australia, many of the materials are suitable for use elsewhere. You can search for lesson plans by age group (lower, middle and upper primary, or lower and upper secondary) and search for background information on particular development themes such as globalisation, health, refugees, microfinance and poverty.

Can anyone recommend a text book for Spanish Ab Initio?  or If you have any thoughts on the book you are currently using...

History of the America's text choice?

My A.P has told me that I need to chose a textbook very soon. Our school is going to begin the I.B program next year, but our I.B visit in December. I am going to teach History of the America's to juniors. Another colleague of mine will be teaching the 20th century to our seniors. Can anyone recommend a good textbook that I can use just for the History of the America's section. Also any really good supplemental texts that students should read outside of class on maybe the Latin America or Canadian part as those are my weaknesses.-Thanks, Ken.

IB-MYP chemistry 'one-world essay' please give me some suggestions! thank you

Hi friends,

 I am jaydip, (pronounce it as 'joy-deep') teaching chemistry at IBDP level at kodaikanal international school, tamilnadu, india. This year i have been assigned with MYP-year 5 classes also, in additional to my IBDP classes, and i am finding it quite challenging to handle stuffs like 'one-world-essays' etc. If anyone of you are teaching CHEMISTRY at MYP level and give me some idea about the 'one world essay' you have used for your class for various topics, i will be really thankful to you,

Seeking Suggestions for A1 School Choice

I am at a new school and new to the IB. We are looking at changing some of our A1 School Choice selections. We currently have and desire to keep Heat and Dust; O Pioneers!; and Things Fall Apart. We are looking for a third book that fits these thematically and would prefer to have a work of non-fiction instead of another novel. Does anyone have any suggestions?

A statistical exercise for Year 12 mathematicians to support the Peace and conflict theme

A workbook of personnel deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan

One sheet on Iraq, one on Afghanistan and a third providing some support material  for teachers

Use a small list of data to find the mean and standard deviation using the two formulae for the variance

Using the larger data lists, calculate these stats using calculators and/or excel 

Construct a frequency table of the Iraq data and calculate the stats and compare with the list stats

Does summarising the data into a frequency table introduce significant changes?

Hola que tal, soy docente de educación física del CIEDI (Bogotá-Colombia) y para el día de la paz queremos hacer un festival de juegos para los niños de preescolar. En estos juegos aprenderan a reconocer y respetar a los demás, a ganar y a perder, a resolver problemas de una forma pacifica y lo más importante a compartir con alegria.

 

Interdisciplinary Units

Our school was recently authorized, and we're working on creating some solid interdisciplanary units. A lot of our teachers are stumped at this, and we have many new staff members. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to post some unit plans for us to look at and get some ideas?
