My son is an IB Diploma student at Oulun Lyseo lukio in Finland. For his Group 1 Language A1 he plans to offer his mother language, Bengali. However, we have not yet been able to find out what is the curriculum for Bengali so that he can make his choices and we can send him the required books.
Can anyone help? Anyone in Bangladesh? Or Kolkata?
Nomoshkar! I am an IB
Nomoshkar! I am an IB Coordinator in Istanbul, and am helping a Korean student in circumstances similar to your son's.
Please ask him to get in touch with his IB Coordinator, who will give him documentation about what needs to be done, and to what standards. He should speciifically ask for the Subject guide for Language A1, for the PBL in Bengali, and for the PWL (Published World Literature List). He should then choose according to the instructions contained in these documents. He is required to choose his own program of study, which must include some world literature in Bengali translation. He should also request his IBDP Coordinator to obtain past exam papers in Bengali, and other documents specifically aimed at the student who is studying Language A1 on his own.

Thank you, Gautam. Sorry
Thank you, Gautam.
Sorry for the delay, but it's been hectic since the Pujas. Aj-i dekhlam.
It's quite an experience, tutoring my son over the Net. Unfortunately, he is one of those Xaverians who are more comfortable with English...I've almost finished translating Hoimonti during the past month, all while chatting!
I've been a writer in advertising for most of my career, and I write both Bangla and English. I've also worked twelve months in Bangladesh—awgo bhashao likhsi! For the past four years, though, I've been mainly switching between US and UK English as an Instructional Designer and content developer in an e-learning company.
Anyway, I'll come back to you for advice if I need anything further.

Hello
Hello there,
I think you should try to tutor him over the net and help him by books on basic grammar and literature. I am from Bangladesh.
