Dogodogo is a centre caring for street children in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. A new book tells the stories of some of these children in their own words and with their own illustrations. Originally published in Tanzania, it now reaches a wider readership in an edition published by Macmillan.
Kasia Parham, an English teacher at the International School of Tanganyika, who also worked as a volunteer teacher at the Centre, has developed the book to help the young people tell their story to the world. Kasia is wife of the British High Commissioner in Tanzania, and the foreword to the book is by Cherie Blair. All royalties go to the Dogodogo Centre.

On Thursday, October 2nd
On Thursday, October 2nd Kasia and Emmanuel visited George Green's School in East London, in the UK. They met with our IB students and gave a very moving account of the problems facing the Street Children in Dar es Salam and the brilliant work being done at the Dogodogo centre. They were both truly inspiring. Kasia and Emmanuel also met with some of our Sixth Form students with Complex Educational Needs and taught them some Swahili. Coincidentally, two of our Sixth Form students - Ruhell Amin and Omar Gulaid are going to Tanzania as part of the Fulcrum Challenge later in October and hope to meet up with Kazia and Emmanuel again in Tanzania. Kasia has very kindly invited the whole Fulcrum Challenge group (all thrity of them) to meet up with some of the young people from the Dogodogo centre at the British High Commissioners residence - a visit that will enhance what already promises to be a potential life changing opportunity.
