A website of the UK's Royal Geographical Society with many excellent Internet-based student activities related to all the issues of the community theme, and other development-related issues, e.g. environment, climate change, sustainability.

Activities are categorised by age group (primary, secondary), topic, and country they relate to.

UN Cyberschoolbus - fighting disease

A series of teaching units on eradicating disease. General information on causes and transmission of diseases, on poverty, and on disease eradication.

UN Cyberschoolbus poverty curriculum

The UN Cyberschoolbus curriculum on poverty is for grades 5-12 and comprises 7 units:

Introduction, Food, Health, Housing, Education, Work and Economic security, Conclusion.

Worldmapper

Worldmapper is a collection of world maps, where territories are re-sized on each map according to the subject of interest. From mobile phone usage to literacy and mortality rates, there is a great range of maps here.

There are 366 maps, also available as PDF posters.

Association for Science Education (UK) global dimension resources

Website from the UK Association for Science Education on introducing a global dimension in science teaching for 11-16 year olds. It gives ideas and suggestions on a general "global approach", with ideas and teaching suggestions on certain specific topics. Links to other sites too.
