ToK Global Poverty classes

Hi

My ToK class have considered the guiding questions suggested in the "ethics of global poverty" lesson plan. They are posting their views within the discussion forum. They hope to have a good response to their views on this important issue. Please urge your students to respond. Thanks

World Poverty

After an introduction on global distribution of World Poverty as portrayed by World Mapper, we discussed the Knowledge Issues associated with the topic. Questions like "Who determines the poverty line?" and "Do we need a poverty line?" were aired.

The students in our IBDP class discussed their perspectives on poverty in Pakistan, USA, Qatar, Tunisia, Syria, Canada and India.

International Days & Events suitable for school participation

Hi there teachers!

Here is a list of 'international days' and events relating to social and environmental responsibility that are suitable for school participation.

Why not pick 4 for the year and focus on one particular topic/issue each term? Many of the international days/events relate to subject areas e.g. World Oceans Day = Science, Geography or Environmental Systems and so on.

Will update this for 2009!

On October 21st, they'll get a chance to put their knowledge to the test by interacting with the wolf experts.
