Hey IB people!
I attend the Queensland Academy of Health Sciences in Australia. I plan on being an orthopaedic surgeon when I grow up. I believe (sorry if this is tokish but i was forced at knife poin to write this!) that yes people do have the responsibility to act against poverty if they have knowledge of it. I have believed this for as long as I remeber. For instance I have known about poverty for practically my whole life so when I decided to become a doctor when I was 12 I promised myself that if I become a doctor I will go to africa (I know poverty is in other countries, but I wanna go there ;) )
The reason I made this promise was because I was sceptical about the legitimacy of monetary donations to poverty strcken countries, so as a doctor I could go over there and see for myself the poverty and fix it with my knowldge in medicine!
Good luck everyone with the whole IB thing, it's tough but we are all going through the same thing!
