It is up to each of us as teachers to help students become the best learners they can possibly be. To do this, developing our students’ learner profile attributes has got to be at the forefront of our efforts. Teaching knowledge and skills is fine but helping young people develop the right attitudes to learning has got to be our priority. Developing the IB learner profile attributes not only helps our students become better learners but also helps them have a better chance of developing into better global citizens.
One of the reasons why this important part of education has not been a primary focus of many educational systems is because it is not so easy to do. A second reason is that it is not so easy to assess how well you’ve done it.
Interested in helping out? If you are an IB teacher with access to the IBO’s Online Curriculum Centre OCC then why not join the debate, share ideas and ask questions on the site’s IB Programme Continuum page.
Whether you have access to the OCC or not you can still join in by going to http://developingreallearners.ning.com/
Let’s make this work!
