There is always conflict around the world at different levels of human society. From bar fights to international Rugby to full-scale wars, the question is do we fight because society drives us to fight or do we fight because of our human nature?

I guess that this is related somehow to my personal project.. It runs in our veins.. human nature (or at leasti guess so).. therehas got to be a war at some place all the time.. Our role as IB students is to change this world... WILL WE??
Humans are hostile to each other by nature. Oo Thats the whole reason civilisations were formed. By belonging to a group, people loose aggression towards others in the same group it and turn it against other groups.
So, its natural that countries will want to fight (sport, politics, even war :()
The only way to eradicate this is through the complete globalisation of the world.
Of course, you can see the problem arising here, dictatorship, the eradication of democracy etc. (1984).
Opposition and disagreement are necessary for the function of human societies.
War.. quite frankly I never think war will ever end. There will always be conflicts against each other and we don't have the power to change this. Like people have said before.. conflict is in our "human nature." Although conflict against each other is inevitable, we could try and reduce this. People all around the world, have been forced into poverty because or war, if all wars were to cease, the lesser and poorer countries might have a chance to rebuild their society. ut instead, after one war ends another continues. Until we learn to control our anger and learn to accept others for what they are and solve conflicts with civility (e.g through voting) war will continue, and I think that this is a very sad thing =_=
As I said before, conflict is in our human nature but we can also help reduce it.

Well. although you guys think that war is cool, you also gotta know wtf its all about. The MAIN reason that war even happens in the first place, is that it is the ultimate EASY SOLUTION to all problems. You may say that it runs through our veins, yet why are ther people who hate war? Because it is harmful.
e.g. Imagine yourself in a war zone, and a soldier points a Desert Eagle and decides to shoot you.....WOULD YOU LIKE THAT?
soem of you really do need to get out of here!....... and learn about a thing or two about the value of human lives, and the consequences of WAR!!!!

HOWEVER, this does not mean it should be accepted. ESPECCIALLY in the modern world, when we no longer need to be as aggressive for our survival.

In my opinion, war will probobly always continue. However, If I had a say in how the military weapons worked. I WOULD MAKE THEM ALL ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
I dont want some nuke fraking up our atmosphere and planet because two geezers thought they'd have a bluff. (OK, a bit simplified version of war :)
Anyway.

I don't think it's human nature to want to engage in war. I think that some people enjoy confrontation and some people are greedy and some people put their personal interests ahead of what's good for their country and the world. But I don't believe that we are born wanting to take over or destroy other countries.
Despised Icon might get off on people getting blown to pieces but for the most of us, I think we could do without.
(I dont see why the environment has to suffer because a species of multicellular organisms are selfish and incompassionate enough to lob destructive and biologically deadly masses of chemicals and firepower at eachother without taking the means to ensure other cellular organisms continue to live in peace on this planet which we share. Why must we place ourselves above all?)

First of all, Despised Icon, you're surely some kind of inconsiderate intellectually impaired idiot. Maybe you should check the news once in a while and see the effect war has had and is still having on millions of people. when I think of war, Charles Darwins theory of survival of the fittest comes to mind- countries engage in war to show their dominance and strenght. This however isn't necessary. I partially agree with those who say that violence is in human nature but ultimately, it is a conscious decision to go to war and we can change it if we wish to do so. What keeps us from refraining is Pride- that very thing which can lead to our downfall. If once in a while, political leaders could just leave their egos aside and gain a broder perspective of the global situation, most conflicts would have been avoided. Is it so necessary to prove ones might that one has to take such extreme measures as going to war? Anything with the word war in it can never be successful, whether its the war in Iraq, afghanistan or the war against terrorism. Because violence breeds violence. Innocenece is lost, lives are destroyed, enemities are formed. Thats what war can do. Why do you think terrorism first came up? Anyway, I'll leave that discussion for another time.

I do not really get involved with politics or anything of that sort, because i belive that politics don't really do much to our lives, it simply and easily destroys many peoples lives. So if u look at war, all wars in general, you can see that they are all caused by political conflicts, so i don't really blame the people...
I come from a country which has been stuck in war for atleast 3o years (Lebanon), and becuase i am an immigrant, i can point out people's mistakes in their doings and point of views, that may be simply because i don't get involved with any of the political parties, and i have realised that every lebanese person who lives in lebanon believes that one particular person can make a difference to the country, and end up fighting for him/her and sometimes giving up his/her own life for that politician.
War happens when two or more countries strongly disagree with eachother over anything regarding the counties' economics, business, politics, or even development from any kind. So what happens is that politicians keep pulling each other's threads till any one of the sides decides that they had enough and declares war, therefore the poor soldiers end up as victims of the political conflict, and i dont think its fair that soldiers have to go out and fight, because they are not actually fighting for their country, but they are fighting for the politicians instead, so i think that if we want to make this war fair, we need to make the politicians pick up their weapons and figt, maybe after messing around with death they would appreciiate the soldiers' courage and other people's worries and fear.
People do not fight for their country, they fight for the politicians' benefit. Some are forced into war because of the lack of soldiers in the army, or even if the soldier chose to go to war himself then he must be a strong beliver in politics and he must have his own point of views and beleifs.
I hope my answer answers your question and it makes sense to most of you out there... but if you thin about it, war is not our fault, it is not your fault, it is nobody's fault but the politicians who rule the countries and therefore people's lives!!
