AN INVITATION FOR THE IBO TO CO-CREATE HOPE, ABUNDANCE AND PEACE ON A GLOBAL SCALE WITH HUB-GPN AND THE IB COMMUNITY THEME:

“Sharing Our Humanity”!

It’s been almost 14 years since I completed the IB Diploma at the Armand Hammer United World College of the American West and now reside in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The extraordinary education I received through the IB Diploma Program at UWC-USA has helped carry me through my life journey and I am extremely grateful for having had the opportunity. When I graduated from UWC-USA in 1995 my formative experiences there gave my passion for people and international education the opportunity to express itself while allowing me to share this experience with students from nearly 80 different countries. It is fair to say that UWC and the IB Diploma Program changed me forever and to this day it continues to empower and inspire me to be my absolute best! I would like to give back to UWC-USA, UWC International and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) now to show my immense gratitude.

Recently I have discovered a perfect opportunity for the International Baccalaureate Organization and its members to help assist people in need around the planet and as a result share your humanity! It is appalling to me that now in the year 2009 some 35,000 people die every single day from water-borne illnesses and starvation alone, both preventable situations. Some may consider the provision of such basic needs (like clean drinking water, food and education) to all of humanity as utopic, however, now that dream has a viable roadmap for it’s actualization, thanks to HUB (Humanity Unites Brilliance), facilitated by Global Power Networks (GPN). Until now literally billions of dollars have been spent toward the symptoms of poverty through various fragmented charities and NGOs that lack to completely fulfill the massive resources that are required to properly provide for millions of people in desperate need of help. HUB has taken a revolutionary approach by implementing a for-profit model that unites some of the best organizations in the field to deliver a total package which empowers people to transform their impoverished situations through the delivery of food, water, education and pooled micro-credit loans. As a for-profit entity HUB has been created with the vision that all who participate should be a part of a giving and receiving cycle. HUB has been built as a self-sustaining structure to encourage you to keep giving because you also receive simultaneously!

Without question the integrity of any organization begins with leadership and HUB has it in abundance. HUBʼs Chairman and CEO, Charlie Stuart Gay, worked with UWCʼs International Presidents Nelson Mandela and Queen Noor in his previous involvement as Executive Director of The Soul of Africa Campaign and The Mineseeker Foundation, and is a humanitarian visionary who is leading HUB with a plan of how to co-create a world of abundance. When you hear him speak and learn of what he is doing now I think youʼll agree that he is certainly up to the challenge to lead HUB and our extraordinary mission. Just as Charlie has identified the need for those organizations to collaborate in the field to be more effective he also realizes that he cannot do it alone with his own network and thus is reaching out to unite us all as a global family to overcome our global problems.

The missions and values of the IBO and HUB are exceptionally similar in scope and purpose. As with the IBO, HUB can be considered a global movement in international education and has incredible potential to be a powerful force for good on the planet. The potential to fundraise for UWC, an IB Diploma school for example, already exists as Charlie strongly supports the creation of a special scholarship fund through a portion of HUBʼs economic engine as more members of the IBO and UWC Network join - a wonderful blend of philanthropic and entrepreneurial wealth distribution that co-creates, in this case, a wonderful opportunity for deserving students to experience international education at UWC-USA or other UWCs. The money we can raise together by being members of HUB, up to $5,000,000, can be contributed with funds matched by Mr. Shelby Davis, UWC International Patron, making a grand total of $10,000,000, another remarkably generous gift from him for our College, in particular, and the UWC movement internationally. The potential for other exciting fundraising projects, like money for a new IB World School or UWC, are completely possible by means of HUBʼs economic engine and is limited only to imagination!
