Human Trafficking

I have heard this one program talk about human trafficking many times now and I believe that now is the time to share the dark side of the human race.  For each minute it takes for you to read this, two people are trafficked.  What does that sound like to you?  Human Trafficking.  Does it sound like people on buses and freeways, getting from one place to another?  Does it sound like a special term for a stalker?  Not at all, although the guesses are quite close.  In fact, human trafficking is a "nicer" term for human slavery.  That's right.  Slavery.  It may sound like something that was abolished a century ago, but it still goes on, even today.  It's an ugly truth, but it's one that the government isn't doing much to help.  Obviously, human trafficking is illegal, but recently, it's the second highest illegal trade (first is drugs, third is weapons).  The reasons why people are trafficked are:

  • to make money for their family or themselves
  • because their parents or someone sold them into human trafficking
  •  for entertainment (sex slaves or bullied)

This needs to stop.  People have rights and should not be bought and sold like ordinary, everyday objects.  That's the whole purpose of Transitions Global®.  They are an organization that are fighting against human trafficking and taking people out of a trafficked lifestyle.  Once they are taken out of that lifestyle, Transitions Global® help ease the victims back into a normal life, helping them find a job and setting up a home for the victims.  There have been many success stories, and the trafficked victims live fairly normal lifestyles, able to support themselves and one day, their family.

I've never heard the term

I've never heard the term "human trafficking" before. After listening to your presentation and reading this I realize how scary it is. How do you stop something like this? The organization must face a lot of danger by interfering with the people who run places that participate in human trafficking. A movie recently came out called Taken and I now realize that this must be what it's about. A young girl gets taken and hooked on illegal drugs so that she can't escape, they then proceed to auction her off for sex.

Human Trafficking is scary.

Human Trafficking is scary. I knew that some countries still had human trafficking going on, but i had no idea that it was so bad. I definitely think that human trafficking needs to be stopped. I think that it would be very hard to stop this issue because its so big and so hard to track. I hadn't realized the numbers were so bad until your presentation.
