Lord's Resistence Army in Uganda

In Uganda, there is a group led by a man called Joseph Kony called the Lord's Resistence Army.  What they do doesn't quite relate to the group name.  Kony's goal is to eventually lead to love and peace, but that's hard to believe.  He and others go around at night in the village of Lira and kidnaps children.  Some are shot.  Most are taken away to be trained to use weapons, mainly guns, shooting to kill.  These are the child soldiers.  Because they are young, they are easily brainwashed to shoot at people and kill them.  The children may not be physically ready, but there is no true escape.  It's either kill or be killed.  Besides kidnapping children, they kill refugees to spread fear about and destroy all they can, such as schools.  This needs to be stopped.  Invisible Children is an organization that helps rebuilds schools that were destroyed so that the children in the refugee camps may be educated and eventually leave Uganda.  One they leave, they'll find a better place to live and work hard to help get others out of Uganda.  It's going to take a long time to fight against the LRA, so we need to do all that we can to help get less and less children abducted each day.  If you were abducted, wouldn't you wish for someone to get you out ?

Dorothy, this is very

Dorothy, this is very interesting and sad. What I don't understand is how LRA thinks that their violence and abductions are leading to love and peace. To me, achieving love and peace is throgh compassion, caring, and anti-violence. I think that the U.S., along with other countries, should communicate with LRA in order to come to an agreement about a more beneficial and positive way to achieve peace. Do you know if it is possible for us to reach Joseph Kony, by email or a letter? I feel that writing to explain to Kony why what he is doing is wrong, and to suggest a more sane manor to go about reaching peace and love would be powerful. Thanks :) Nicole N.
