I recently attended a lecture given by Bill Bradburry. Bill Bradbury was trained by Al Gore to give the famous "Inconvenient Truth" speech about global warming. It is well known that we are encouraged to help protect our earth by using environmentally friendly products. However, these are not accessible to all. "Green" products are very expensive, and for many are not a sound financial investment because they will not use the products enough to see a return in funds.
For example, in 2005, Edmunds.com said that hybrid car drivers would have to drive tens of thousands of extra miles each year, or gas needs to hit $5.60 a gallon before even considering reaching the point where one breaks even with such a purchase.
Even more simple items such as energy-efficient lightbulbs are quite costly, and those in poverty aren't able to upgrade their appliances. This leaves the lower class feeling guilty, as if they are the cause of this alleged potential global devastation. There should be energy-efficient, environmentally sustainable products provided to be within everyone's reach to further help our endangered planet heal.

but the products are spendy. Sometimes the products they recommend are in the long run are less environmentally friendly. Some of them may be better when you use them, but most of them take more energy to make then they save. For instance corn based ethnol fuel is supposed to be better for the environment. But what goes unsaid about ethnol is that its hard to make, and takes up a lot of energy to produce. Everything is also so spendy to get.
