Dear  Kindergarten and Pre-School Teachers,

My name is Olga Suvorkova. I am the Head of the Kindergarten at Moscow Economic School.

We are looking for kindergartens who would like to communicate with us via letters or video-letters.

Below are the themes of inquiry we are doing.  Our children and teachers are ready to tell your children and teachers about ourselves, our holiday celebrations, our school. And we would like to know about you, your customs and traditions the school you are in etc.

3-4 year - olds:"How we organize ourselves". "Our School".

Central Idea:"The school helps us to study and be friends".

Lines of Inquiry:

1.The school buildings and grounds,

2. Who works in our school, what jobs they do and what tools they use,

3. The daily routine of the school and the systems that help us. (we have finished it, ready to write you, send our pictures, or a video letter about our school)

 

"Who we are". Who I am.

Central idea: "Every day I learn who I am, what I can do, and how I am changing".

Lines of inquiry:

1. My physical characteristics, what I can do,

2. My feelings, my likes and dislikes,

3. I am a part of my family,

4. How I am growing and changing. ( we are doing this theme now but would love to share with you who we are.)

 

4-5 year-olds:"Sharing the Planet". "The Food that is given to us by the Earth". 

Central idea:"Many plants are used as food for us and animals".

Lines of inquiry:

1. Fruit and vegetables we eat.

2. Where and how fruit and vegetables grow.

3. Which plants the animals eat?,

4. Why it is important to eat vegetables and fruit. (We have finished it, ready to write you, send our pictures, or a video letter about what we have found out and want to know about fruit and vegetables you eat).

 

"Where we are in place and time". "The clothes we are wearing".

Central idea: "The choice of the clothes people wera depends upon where these people live and what they do".

Lines of inquiry:

1. The kinds of clothes we wear,

2. How the chioce of the clothes depends upon the weather,

3. How the weather of different places influences the choice of clothes people wear,

4. What else influences our choice of clothes.  (We are doing this theme now but would love to share with you what have we learned.) 

 

5-6 years old:"How we express ourselves". Holidays and traditions".

Central idea: “Families recognize important personal and cultural events through celebrations and traditions.”

Lines of inquiry:

1. What tradition is,

2.How and why people celebrate,

3. Similarities and differences in celebrating the same holiday by people from different countries.

(We are doing this theme now but would love to share with you how we celebrat the New Year and would love to get information about your traditions to celebrate this holiday).

We are looking forward to hear from the kindergartens from different countries.
