Alter Wiener is a holocaust survivor who visited my school to tell us his story. His story was very moving, and astounding. When he was finally liberated from the concentration camp, 18-year-old Alter weighed 80 pounds, could fit one hand around his whole thigh, and was the only surviving member of his 123-member family. It is mind-blowing that he was able to keep going through so much pain, and that he was able to survive.
