Dear  IB-ers,

We are a two-year, all-boarding IB Diploma school.  We adopted the IB Community theme as the theme for our latest newsletter.  In it, we highlighted some of what our school has been doing in terms of the High Noon topics (Global poverty, Education for all, Peace and conflict, Global infectious diseases, Digital divide, and Disasters and emergencies).

Open Minded Students

Students often believe the first picture, video or website they come across as gospel.  How can we ensure they keep an open mind to what they view and hear?

One laptop per child (OLPC)

Seeing sivadeel’s recent post on the OLPC Project I thought that it may be of interest to know that in the Publications group of the IB we’ve been researching it.

We obtained an OLPC XO laptop this year as part of a ’give one, get one’
scheme (our 'give one' XO went to OLPC Mongolia) so that we could test how well
IB online publications perform on new, more restricted hardware platforms.

American Overseas School of Rome's links with Institute of Culture Brazil Italy Europe, Salvador, Brazil.

Belinda Fiochi describes the American Overseas School of Rome's service project Bridge to Bahia, which addresses four of the global issues of the sharing our humanity theme. It links AOSR with an innovative school, the Institute of Culture Brazil Italy Europe, in Salvador, Brazil.
