St. Andrew's School- participating as a school community

At our school in Savannah, GA, we are participating in the IB community theme as a school.  Although we are only an authorized for the Diploma Programme, we are participating in the theme through all grade levels Pre-kindergarten- Twelfth grade.  Various grade levels and groups are doing projects and learning around the theme.

Our 1st-3rd grades have all joined in a partnership with the Peace Corps in which they are participating in lessons regarding cultures and lifestyles with students in a variety of other countries around the world.  Our 7th grade and our Theory of Knowledge class are partnering with a new non-profit, Children Inspiring Hope, in which students from our school and students in Ghana will form relationships in which they communicate and learn from one another.  Specifically, after engaging in the Global Lesson on Poverty, our Theory of Knowledge students decided that they do not have very much "knowledge" of poverty and are planning to engage in local service projects to gain more firsthand knowledge of poverty and its relationship with other social issues.  After engaging in these projects, we plan to share our experiences with students in Ghana.

These are just a sampling of the projects we will be doing this year.  We are just getting started but very excited about the initiatives undertaken already and the possibilities ahead.
