The government of Myanmar does not seem to care that the rest of the World is trying to help them recover from earthquake. Maybe we should stop helping and make the totalitarian government suffer.
I totally agree with this direct, controversial yet true statement. These governments don't care about the country that they are meant to protect. Plus they have to be pretty dumb to not let other people clean up their mess for them. It would save them money, man-power and would make them look good too.
"Maybe we should stop helping and make the totalitarian government suffer." It wouldn't be the government who would suffer. They simply wouldn't clean up their own mess. It's obvious that they don't have any sense of responsibility in respect to the welfare of their people so what makes you think that stopping national aid would do any good? Better to expose the government for what it is after most of the humanitarian efforts have been carried out in the regions most affected and then start imposing sanctions on the government. Because if the aid organizations that are there complain now they'll just get kicked out and the people affected won't receive any aid at all.
