Think about what would happen if there wasn't enough energy . . . there would be no light to turn on when it got dark . . . there would not be any hot water for the shower or heat for your house in the winter . . . no gas or oil to drive the car . . . so there are lots of reasons we should save energy.
We all are aware that we have entered a world that is resource constrained ,and carbon constrained and with 3 billion more people forecasted by 2050 ,the only way we are going to solve these problems is by changing our consumption patterns
The challenge for us and our students at ,The Banyan Tree School ,Gurgaon is to find out ways to conserve energy .In grade 5 ,while we integrated visual arts with Programme of inquiry students were made to think ways in which they can give the world back energy and help make better use of energy supplies. It was amazing the ways the children came up with ideas to promote usage of alternate energy .They took up responsibility towards educating others through various activities ,one of which was the posters making activity. All the students at school believe they can make a difference by working together to help their community across the world become energy efficient.
The posters made by the students reflect their intentions, which very clearly and loudly say –SAVE ENERGY FOR TOMORROW- in order to help rebuild our future. In their own small way they want the message to travel to everyone that - we need to optimise energy use and minimize energy waste. For all of us “Future is a challenge” and I am sure we all are ready for it… Ms.Gaura SethiPYP Coordinator
