Hi there
Please feel free to use any language for postings on this site.
The site is set up to be accessed in the three IB working languages - English, French and Spanish. When it was launched we made sure we had postings in all three languages, plus some in Chinese - in which the MYP is taught in some schools.
But you can post in any language, even though only some people will be able to understand.
It is good to see posts in Spanish - the language in which a significant proportion of IB students study and sit examinations for the IB.

"we learn more about human behavior by reading a novel than researching in a scientific psiocology book."
well, i thought about this while reading Pride & Prejudice. there are so many things about the way all the characters act, that you can see the different way a human being reacts to the situations of life. we can see how they deal with their issues, and you can analize how they act; understanding the human mind rather than investigating in scientific books.

Hi Florestela
Welcome to this site.
It has been set up for the whole IB community (including IB teachers and school administrators, IB staff and IB students and their parents), but it has a particular purpose.
This is to engage with the community theme - sharing our humanity - and specifically to a number of important and urgent global issues.
"About the community theme" tells you more about the theme itself.
"About this site" explains the purpose of this site and how it works.
We hope you will explore some of the posts here to find out more about the issues of the theme, and some of the ways members of the IB community are engaging with these issues.

It's a working title Is anyone else finding it hard to stick to one subject when you're writing your EE? I keep finding myself making comments about politicians like Mugabe... which really isn't a 'literary' enough focus...
I'm a chem teacher in Surabaya (Indonesia). For my students, I always expect them to explore something that happens surround them. The topic of EE should something that they aware and if possible give solution. We really expect them to arise local issue that may effected on global issue, such as pollution, water crisis, etc

i'm a junior, so i haven't really gotten to the whole deciding on my topic for my extended essay. but what i have been thinking about was something in either the english department or the psychology department. for english, creative writing sparks my interest. for psychology, i'd like to research dreams versus reality. but who knows? i might do something in science!

Hi there
thought it might be useful to fill you in on some background.
This site has been specifically set up for the IB community theme.
The IB community consists of everyone associated with IB – including IB
staff, teachers, students and parents. The IB community theme
encourages all members of the community to become engaged with certain
key global issues – grouped under the heading “sharing our humanity”.
These issues are global poverty, education for all, global infectious
diseases peace & conflict, the digital divide, and disasters &
emergencies.
“About the community theme” tells you more about
the whole project, and “About this site” explains the role this site is
playing in the project.
The site is for the IB community to share
resources, ideas and opinions all related to these global issues, and
to report action taken by members of the community that relate to the
global issues. Why not have a look at these two sections, and also at
some of the posts that are here that relate to the global issues of the
theme, and the ways in which IB schools have been responding?
During October, IB is encouraging IB World Schools
to teach a “global lesson” on poverty, and the lessons and accompanying
materials are posted here on the website.
Is this IB website the place for all these comments?
Perhaps try some of the "unofficial" sites for IB people set up by indiivduals elsewhere?
To What extent was the failure of operation Barbarossa the reason the Germans lost the Second World War?
Basically I am considering the war between Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia and trying to decipher how important it was in the failure of the Germans in WW2
This is pretty cool! I'm a junior at Mount Saint Mary Academy (Arkansas) I'm thinking something along the lines of Coco Chanel and Women’s Fashion Liberation of the 20 th Century

Hi there We've just been
Hi there
We've just been reviewing the community theme website, to make it easier for people to find their way around.
As part of this, we've decided that the Blog should be used just for information from IB, and comments or responses to this.
So if you wish to continue the discussion on extended essays, please set up a forum for this.
The community theme website is intended for the IB community to share resources, ideas and reports on addressing global issues.
But until the new IB virtual community sites are set up, we're letting people use this site for other things.
