Going global without going anywhere

"Going  global without going anywhere" attached below is a pdf of a PowerPoint presentation on this topic given recently at a number of conferences and workshops.

It includes suggestions of 10 things teachers can do to introduce or enhance a global dimension in teaching.

IB marks Earth Day, 22 April 2010 - IB World Schools are encouraged to take part

IB marks Earth Day, 22 April 2010.

Earth Day is 22 April. Starting in a small way 40 years ago, it now involves a billion people finding out more about our shared planet, and taking action. Following a resolution in 2009, the UN has now designated 22 April as Mother Earth Day.

IB is inviting IB World Schools to mark Earth Day by taking part in activities and teaching the specially written IB global lessons on or around 22 April.

Devastating earthquake in Haiti - what can we do to help?

Up to 3 million people have been affected by the devastating earthquake that hit  Haiti on Tuesday (12 January), according to the International Red Cross.

Making the IB community theme a focus for the whole school

The Royal High School, Bath, UK recently introduced the IB Diploma as an option for its older students. The school wished  to involve all its students (younger students and those not taking the IB Diploma) in its new status as an IB World school. It has done this by making the IB community theme a focus for the whole school.

Request for Work Demonstrating Global Competency

Below is a call for submission of student work demonstrating characteristics indicating global awareness. This is part of a new project to set out the characteristics we would seek to develop in students prepared for life in a global world. Among those engaged in the project are Harvard Project Zero. As part of the work an interesting and useful Global Competency Matrix has been developed.
